Pros

Attached to a beautiful attraction, but the management at that attraction can be snotty af. Most of the guests who come through the store are happy to be there but then you get a handful of really demanding people. My coworkers are teh BEST!

Cons

No schematic on where to put merch so we are always moving things around when new merch comes in. Lots of time on your feet so invest in good shoes that your manager approves for appearance sake. Scheduling is harder than it needs to be for no good reason. Season can be brutal and then it calms down but that means people are afraid for their jobs as season ends.

Pros

Going to work in a world class art museum.

Cons

Very low pay (nowhere near a living wage for the DC metro area), unaffordable=NO health insurance, manipulative, dishonest, abusive manager, cliquish upper management, toxic work environment.

Pros

They give you a paycheck every other week and tend to at least be in cool locations even if the cool locations attract nightmare customers and guests.

Cons

I could write pages. My husband worked there 8 years compared to my 2. He rose up to just under director for their top store when we lived in another state. He was essential to the stores and yet never values. His raises were in yearly increments of about 30 cents IF he preformed exceptionally. Although his team appreciated him, anyone higher than director couldn't care less about individuals. Any complaints about workplace quality were consistently ignored in his 8 years. I swear, with the amount of self defeating idiot decisions the CEOs are constantly making you would think they WANT these stores to fail miserably. They have no clue what they are doing due to having no personal connection or care for any of their stores. Throughout his career with them he was almost never making more than 50 cents above the ever rising minimum wage. In short it's profit over people and they will always put the mere chance at a few more pennies over your needs as their employee.
