Pros

Flexible, local, pretty independent work environment.

Cons

No opportunities for advancement, very few morale boosting events, not a lot of PTO, very little chance for bonus and or pay increase.

Pros

Nice co-workers. Work/life balance is possible.

Cons

Non-existent CEO/President/Upper management, mediocre middle management, and poor lower management. Below average pay and bonuses, below average 401K, and below average health insurance. Afraid to invest money in facilities or employees so the buildings are improperly maintained and there is high turnover. Status quo is nearly impossible to break through - new ideas are not encouraged. Communication from management and between departments is sorely lacking. Limited opportunities for career advancement. Most long term employees seem to remain out of their own fear to move on, not because they actually want to be there, so morale is poor.

Pros

Supervisors are easy to get along with so long as you show up for work and do your job to the best of your ability. It also helps to leave your ego at home. As long as you're not a "know-it-all", you might learn something. The company's retirement contribution is generous compared to other shops. Sick time and vacation time are average. Lots of overtime.

Cons

The pay is pretty low. To date, it tops out around $17/hr and takes 3 years to get there. No matter what they may tell you in the interview, or what your experience is, that's the wage scale. The insurance is expensive, for what you get. The equipment is outdated and ill-maintained, for the most part. Overtime is required, until you get hired permanent, no matter what the excuse.
