Poor management. Department/Division heads with little or no people skills. Emphasis is on form over substance. Volume of work is prized over quality of work. High level claims professionals spend a great deal of their day inputting redundant notes into an antiquated computer system. The mangers regurgitate information obtained from the TPA's notes into the company system. As long as the note is input timely, the content is of little importance. Creativity and competincy are not rewarded, timely input is. Everest recently took advantage of the "poor ecomony" (while posting very respectable profits) to downsize its staff and increase the workload on the already very busy staff that remained.

Narrow minded HR dept as well as dictator like "micro managing" VP's. In bad times, they have shown a complete disregard for hard working employees. This past Feb they laid off approximately 10% of the workforce completely by surprise. No warning, just a quick "see you" and escorted out of the building. Then, a week later, they dole out promotions to a large group of people and promote the "fireing" Vp to Senior VP. No class.
