Pros

Better pay than some Field Service Engineer/Subject Matter Expert-level jobs.

Cons

Because this is the federal government, the bottom dollar is not the most important thing. People from retail will have a hard time understanding how disjointed and disorganized everything can be. The job titles are just for show because random tasks will pop up on a daily basis that you will be expected to handle because there is nobody else.

Pros

Laid back, flexible hours, access to a clearance. You can be successful if you can tough it out for your clearance.

Cons

George Wilson is an embarrassment, no sort of foresight when dealing with the potential spread of the virus in our office. He came to speak and essentially mocked our concerns. No sort of pay raise for people who have worked here for a long time, they just have to hope nepotism is in their favor and they can be promoted.

Pros

Decent benefits, responsive HR, some effort to improve retention, such as a Cybersecurity certification bonus program, some good co-workers and managers, fair merit increases.

Cons

- Company is struggling to find itself and becoming more chaotic and like a “body-shop” since acquired by public staffing firm ASGN in April 2018. For example, it is losing contracts, shedding high-performing employees, while protecting low performers, and grabbing at low-hanging fruit, such as cybersecurity contracts. - Not much room for growth unless you are already a well-connected “expert” who is highly paid. - Most employees are treated like expendable back-office seat warmers, who are low paid, while a few highly paid experts are treated like consultants who do all the team’s thinking and interfacing with the client. - Contrary to ECS policy, nepotism appearing to cause conflict of interest is tolerated. - Broken processes due to poor communication from the top down. Contrary to ECS policy, if your contract ends, don’t expect a two-week layoff notice, or any outreach from hiring managers, even if you have excellent performance reviews. Also, forget severance, as there isn’t any, so being laid off is tantamount to resigning. - Low morale due to the above.
