Terrible Employee Appraisal Process

Pros

Headquarters has a good atmosphere. Your "pro's" really depend on the contract you're on. The annual holiday party is usually a good time.

Cons

You tend to feel disconnected if you work on a client site (although this usually happens with most companies). The yearly employee appraisal/merit increase process is a complete mess. No one seems to know how it should work, and it never occurs on time. Executive management is making it's lower level managers look disorganized because of this. Employees are not properly informed.

Very Poor Communication

Pros

I was hired for contract work and they were honest about the contract and the expiration date. Several people hired at the same time by another company were not told during the interview process about the contract end date. However, since I've been working on-site, many of my emails are just ignored when I ask questions.

Cons

As an experienced professional and project manager, I am very unimpressed with the company and the poor communication. I worked as a consultant for over 7 years for a virtual company and they were much better at communicating with their employees. The $25 gift certificate for the holidays was an insult. Better to not get anything at all.

Pros

Some benefits are slightly above industry

Cons

This company is about money. That is all. They do not care about their employees. As a contractor for a federal client we were asked to work extra hours (on site) while they would only bill the government for 40 hours. They have retrograde policies when it comes to leave, and the people working on HR is disrespectful and verbally abusive. Everything is drama with them and please check your paycheck because they have "glitches" in their payroll system (which means that when you get overtime which is almost never because they expect you to work over 40 hours a week with no extra time while on government site ) and they will short your pay. My manager was an unprofessional lady who never replied emails and when I told her I was not willing to work overtime (paid for the government ) because ECS does not paid even though the government paid them she said she cannot understand why I was upset. Most people get upset when they work and get no payment. I really did not like my time here, taking leave is another drama, you have to use blocks of 8 hours or go without paid; they never make exception and whomever is in charge of HR is an employee that lacks respect for people and simple human communication skills.

Textbook Example of What Greed Does to a Company

Pros

Was a good company for many years with a solid reputation of quality contracts for the Feds and also a good work culture. Had a good leader in the COO and the owner seemed to care about the employees as people rather than just something that either made him money or cost him money. Then, he hired a hot shot executive to grow the company and abrasively pushed out the COO. You know the story after that.

Cons

I have to say that the many of the reviews here that are over the top positive appear to all be written by the same person. Same language use, same style. That kind of thing would not be beyond the new ECS. The company President and the Owner set about getting rich and it all became about growing as fast as possible at any cost. Some people like that kind of environment - generally the ambitious and the sycophantic. So that's what it became and the people who liked the former leadership left over time and what is left are the mean and the stuck.
