Campus Vice President stated I was “putting her livelihood at risk” for requesting 1 PTO day. The PTO day I was requesting was a paid day off that they had required us to come into work on to call the same 180 people we called every single day (Veteran’s Day). We were also harassed by phone calls from management to come into work on our days off for “required overtime.” Roughly 50% of the people we were forced to contact had inquired to this university over 2 years prior, and had requested to not be called. Calling people and being yelled at/hung up on all day. While none of this is Everglades fault, I strongly suggest potential employees think about the type of leader they want in a job. The verbal abuse and manipulation I suffered at this job was not worth the minimal money they pay. No matter what the potential student’s hesitation is to starting school, even including extreme financial hardship/living in a car, you will still be expected to lie to them and push them into making an extremely important financial decision (starting school that costs 5x the amount of a community college).
