I was harassed by two individuals from day one. I flat out got told in my first three months there to stop "acting like" I knew so much and to let other people show me how to do something even if I already knew it as to not make others "uncomfortable."
I tried to just play my part and keep my head down but it was getting worse and the one manager helping keep that harassment at bay was taking off for three months so I decided to speak up about things.
Next thing you know, I'm the one suspended and then without a job. The person who claimed they'd be investigating my harassment claims was only in the office one day that week and thus wasn't even there to investigate.
I'd arranged to have my personal belongings brought to me by one of the good guys who worked there but when he showed up and only had my food that I'd had in the freezer I asked where everything was.
It turns out that the manager had decided to ship everything the slowest way possible. That wouldn't have been a big deal if I hadn't been counting on the stack of pay stubs I had in my drawer for a meeting.
I informed them of the fact that I needed those pay stubs before the meeting and I know they could have gotten them to me electronically, but they chose to maliciously withhold that information from me, thus costing me a $35 last minute appointment cancellation fee.
But wait, there's more.
They do not care about keeping people's information confidential. I'd found out that one of my bullies at work had inappropriately used his access to our payroll system to get my personal information. This would be no problem to prove, except everyone uses the same generic superuser username and password to access the system.
IT management had been being told about how dangerous this kind of access is for well over a year and they refuse to fix it. They don't even change the password periodically as people leave so if someone really wanted, they could get access to it when they want to.
I was told that this was not a problem nor my concern and they felt no need to address that gaping hole in security even though this ex-coworker now has all the information he would need to steal my identity, name, date of birth, social security number, you name it, he has it.
On top of that, being in IT left me with a unique view into things going on at centers all over. You would not believe the things I overheard while on the phone trying to fix other people's issues. On more than one occasion I overheard one of the accounting people berating residents in open hallways about sensitive financial matters. I was nearly in tears on the phone after hearing how one elderly gentleman was being talked to out in the open in front of everyone else at that center.
This company doesn't care about the welfare of its employees or residents. They only care about the bottom line. They care about the bottom line so much that they actually made physical therapy even harder to manage and get aid to residents by outsourcing it all in the name of the almighty dollar.
On top of that, their benefits are absolutely abysmal. I kid you not, their insurance isn't any cheaper than it is out on the free market. They pass no savings on to you so that they can keep more of that dollar in their own pockets.
