Pros

-You don't have to worry too much about HR being overbearing. -when there's a big maintenance job time flies in good company -working outside will make any future jobs seem kushy -Comeradery is quick to build if you pull your weight.

Cons

-they employ pedophiles -there's no such thing as down time. If you have nothing to do, start cleaning the trash cans. -Maintenance is an expense to be minimized. They'll do anything to avoid downing a plane and losing a flight. -paperwork is a nightmare with company inflicted complexity. If you're not paying full attention during the 30 minutes or so of paperwork after a simple check you'll get a talking to about forgetting your 37th signature on page 4. -the records department is inept. They can't seem to keep track of serial numbers because they refuse to use RAAS to its fullest ability. -paperwork again. It's that bad. Not only do you have to digitally sign your work off, you have to print it, physically sign it, then EMAIL a scan of your signed digital copy to the records department. Absolute mountains of paper everywhere. -because maintenance is an expense to be minimized, it is hard to get raises in line with the rate of inflation. Additionally, when they give A&P mechanics a raise less than the starting salary offered to mechanics for airport operations, it is a bad thing for morale. -lack of employees. Because they offer pittance to new mechanics, they are unable to hire enough help to cover all shifts. This resulted in deleting night shift and forcing that work onto day and swing shifts. This is a problem because the company hasn't slowed down their flying schedule to compensate resulting in all staff putting in overtime. Concern for fellow employees is what kept me from leaving for over a year. -the company has to send mechanics from anchorage and Fairbanks to cover their station in Laredo Texas. Staffing there is abismal and the equipment is nonexistent.
