Pros

They have a nice office building in Downtown Denver. Location is the only Pro.

Cons

I should have known during the arrogant hiring process that Evolve was a very unfriendly and unsupportive work environment. It is totally metric driven and has 3 levels of management over each client representative who works there. There are daily scoldings by the supervisors, then weekly one-on-one meetings that are extremely de-motivating and aggressive in quality. I would never recommend this company to anyone, as it is a very unhappy and unprofessional organization.

We’re very sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy your time at Evolve. It’s certainly true that we are a metric driven business, and we realize that working in a performance-oriented culture isn’t for everyone. We always try coach and develop our team members in a positive manner, but we also need to provide candid feedback when expectations aren’t being met. With regards to upper management communicating on a regular basis, our co-founders host a monthly meeting for the entire company that offers detailed insights into the challenges, opportunities and accomplishments of the business. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. We hope you find your next role to be a better fit.

Pros

Work from home. The few people remaining who haven't had their jobs outsourced. Yet.

Cons

After more than six years at Evolve, they offered me, and many of my coworkers, a demotion to a new team with significantly more responsibilities as the "hospitality" company continues to outsource its customer facing roles. These new offers were based on metrics that they changed retroactively to give themselves an excuse for the demotions. Metrics that met or exceeded expectations for the year all of a sudden no longer did. The culture has become extremely toxic as all managers care about anymore are numbers, many of which don't make sense for the roles they're being used to judge, but the leadership team couldn't be bothered to come up with different metrics for different teams, so everyone is judged the same regardless of whether the metrics are appropriate. Years ago there was a culture of collaboration and teamwork, now you are heavily penalized if you're taking the time to help a teammate. It doesn't help that they've disbanded all of the specialist teams, so the employees in customer facing roles have no support. They disbanded the tax team two months before tax season and are just expecting people to figure it out. That's going to be hilarious to hear about later on. They obviously offered no severance, and I'm sure the leadership team was particularly proud of themselves when they realized that by cutting pay and demoting us, they would be completely off the hook for unemployment for anyone who wasn't interested in humiliating themselves by taking their new offer. They boast about their benefits package, and some of it is okay which helps to offset the poor pay. Disgustingly, they still pretend that the restricted stock units that employees earn is worth something. It's not. They've created a system in which they don't have to pay out employees for the stock they've earned, and I've been informed that in less than 18 months after leaving the company, my fully vested stocks will expire. That's how this company operates. Sleezy promises they have no intention of keeping. It's been years of poor decisions and incompetence by the inexperienced leadership team, followed by blaming the employees for not making things work. I'm sure the CEO will give his monthly speech about how he knows that the Leadership team has lost the trust of their employees and how hard they're going to work to do better. We've gotten that speech half a dozen times, I've never seen any attempts at doing better. They may have set a record for how quickly they've run what used to be the company culture into the ground. There is no job security to be found. This is not the right place for anyone with a sense of self-worth.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Our transition to a “Universal Agent” role structure gives our teammates the ability to focus on single contact resolution with fewer handoffs between specialized teams, creating a better experience for customers and Evolvers alike. To clarify, we did not make any changes to metrics retroactively when deciding these new role placements. If you have any questions around this, we strongly encourage you to talk with your People Leader or People Business Partner, as it’s critical that all teammates understand how performance is being measured. To offer some clarity on your mention of equity compensation – we’ve always granted equity to every teammate at Evolve. We grant that equity in the form of “double-vest” restricted stock units or “RSUs,” a very common form for employee equity grants at privately held companies. Double-vest RSUs require that the award meet two conditions to fully vest. The first condition is time of service. The second condition is the occurrence of a company liquidity event prior to an expiration date. The expiration date of a double-vest RSU is an important component of the award. Absent the risk of forfeiture created by the expiration date, the IRS has determined the RSUs would be taxable prior to the liquidity event. That means recipients would face an income tax obligation without any corresponding ability to sell their shares. As a result, the expiration date is a typical feature of private company equity grants. If you have additional questions about your RSUs, we strongly encourage you to take the Evolve Academy course to better understand them, or to reach out to our Benefits team for clarification.

Pros

Sales team works extremely hard and most people have great intentions.

Cons

Very tough to work for an employer that has no direction and little care for their employees. This used to be a great place to work. Culture was strong and people cared for one another from the top down. Once the market shifted, entire teams and departments were let go, and it was amazing to see the shift in attitude and behaviors from management. Evolve quickly became an "every person for themselves" employer where backstabbing, lead-stealing and blood-sucking became the norm, and it continues to this day. Top level managers are desperately trying to escape as are their teams. Operations and Enablement make the decisions despite the brave faces that try to convince us otherwise. This is probably the most unorganized, uncaring and unprofessional outfit I've ever been associated with. Conduct a major layoff in the a.m. only to turn around 3-hours later to have an org-wide meeting with music and decision-makers bopping to the beat and smiling over Zoom. It's quite disgusting, honestly. Then, turn around and try to convince employees to leave good reviews to help attract others. So many good people have been let go, and dozens of other trusted and caring people have opted to leave on their own. The only people left are those of us who are either trying to get out or are puppets drinking the juice. I would stay as far away from this company as possible
