Pros

Great healthcare, great work life balance as you can always say no to working past your hours. If you have two of the following: white, male, related to someone in management or above, you will do exceptionally well there. You automatically get raises very year no matter what you produce because management cares more about retaining you, which is really great considering other competitors are more cut-throat. They don't fire people or lay off people. The worst is that they transition you to another team. It's one of those company where you can easily retire because of the slow pace of work and timelines can always be stretched out. Just don't go into one of those customer-facing teams and the company can be really rewarding. It's easy to have drinks and make friends here.

Cons

There's not enough flexibility in the scheduling for non-IS groups. IS has a new flexible work schedule that was rolled out but the rest of the company was not able to try it out which is really unfair. Also, new employees get 15 days of vacation right away (used to be at the 3 year mark). This is a con because they adjusted it for new people but did not adjust it for current people. I've been here for 6+ years and won't get any additional holiday until the 10 year mark. Also, there's no paid time off for fathers. You have to just use up all your vacation/sick days then take unpaid leave.

Pros

I have nothing good to say about this company

Cons

I have been working at Expeditors for several years in the IS support department and could not take the way this company had treated me anymore. For one thing, the Supervisor keeps on missing my one on ones and rescheduled them very often and as a result, they did not get my yearly reviews properly done. This company has a very stiff environment and micro-manages you in everything as I was being watched constantly whenever I take breaks even though I had excellent attendance and adherence to the schedule. And lastly favoritism and nepotism ran the place management had their favorites and as a result ended up not getting treated fairly and didn’t get the proper training like everyone else in the team. You might ask why did I not go to human resources? Well, this company don’t have one. You would think that a company with over 10,000 plus employees, there would be one. As a lack of human resources department, makes it hard for someone to guild you if there are problems with your supervisors or managements. The CIO/CFO/CEO all say to go directly to them because they have an 'open door' policy, but this seems pointless as you really can't trust them and don't know if they will follow thru and not retaliate. So due to a lack of professionalism coming directly from the new (starting 2015) "Senior Manager" in the IS Application Support specifically and everybody she overseas (leads/supervisor/managers), plus the lack of growth opportunities (No mentoring or skill building) and no human resources. These are the main reasons why I decided to resign from Expeditors. My advice to everybody is to stay away from this company.
