Pros

Coworkers are amazing, the museum spectacular, the work can be fantastic when one is on the right grant/project. The scientists and others who are drawn to associate and lend their expertise to the museum are, in every sense world-class.

Cons

It's very difficult to advance, and the management (although mostly well-meaning) tends to be quite discombobulated and at odds with itself. Salaries tend to be much lower that what comparable jobs in other organizations pay.

Pros

Get to meet a lot of new people, spend time on the museum floor explaining exhibits to visitors

Cons

Negative energy within the explainer community. Sense of passive aggression/hostility at times.
