Pros

-Get Sundays off -Very organized company -Get your own apartment. Mostly just for managers and not for assistants. -There is decent advancement opportunity, but only if you're a "yes" man/woman - If your manager is cool and you do a very good job(store numbers are good) then they give you a lot more freedom and leniency than others.

Cons

-Poor pay -Micromanaged like crazy and upper management spies on you like creeps. For example, when you get a lead from the call center, a timer starts going off on your software so the company knows exactly how long it takes you to follow up with lead. -Have to do all the janitorial work on the property: rake leaves, clean units, clean the office, paint etc. I never really minded doing this, but the problem is you have to keep a walkie on you at all times in case a customer comes to the office and buzzes your walkie in which case you have to stop everything you're doing and go back to the office. Makes it very difficult to get things done efficiently. -The job is very property dependent. I worked at several different properties and if you get stuck with a run down property in a bad area, the job is absolutely horrible. I worked a site where there were break-ins every month, rodent damage, water damage, etc.. Basically just consisted of calling people every other day to tell them that their stuff was ruined or stolen. You're also making collection calls every day and dealing with auctions every month. If you get a nice property in a good area then the job is cake. -You will likely start out as an assistant and be expected to cover practically every store in the region. They won't tell you this up front though. Very difficult thing to do for experienced property managers let alone newbies. The pay sucks when you're just an assistant and don't benefit from getting the free apartment.

Pros

This job is not all that hard to do. You need to learn to deal with customers and know how to deal with conflict sometimes. But other then that, the job is not all that bad. You have decent hours and the workplace is pretty casual. You spend 75%-90% of your time in the office, these people who posted reviews about them spending all their time outside must be doing something wrong lol. I spend 80%-95% of my time in the office and I work for one of the best stores in the division. You should know that you will have a lot of downtime sometimes which makes the day go by slow, so if you like to stay busy alot then you will not like it. You have pretty good training and learn alot about the storage business which is cool.

Cons

Fix Omni, people who work for ESS know what I am talking about. There is no reason for a multi-billion dollar company to have such a crappy computer software system. I know ESS makes a few million dollars a month on CPP so use some of that money to fix it. ESS will honeslty update it,and it will make it worse, (5 and 3 anyone?) I do not like how ESS sells its storage insurance either(CPP), they basically imply that we should tell potential customers that it is mandatory. They never say that out right, but its what they really mean, and its pretty obvious. The salary could be better, either make the incentive bonus better or raise the hourly rate. Also about 75% of the last 20 or so reviews on Glassdoor are fake for ESS. They might respond to me saying that real employees are posting these, and that very well be true. But most likely a District Manger or someone is pressuring lower employees to wright a "good" review.

Pros

Work with little supervision, bonus checks if your lucky

Cons

Unprofessional environment, DM plays favorites, you lie to your customers, benifits are bad, pay is no where near what it should for amount of manual labor cleaning and lifting, no help when needed ,they reward the lazy and the people who lie before they help hard workers. Don't waste your time here.
