1. Pathways to career opportunities for high potential managers. Our COO started as an Assistant Manager. 2. Great company culture 3. Monthly or quarterly bonuses based on position - even entry level. 4. Work - Life balance. A set schedule with Sundays off!

Cons

1. Can deal with unsavory clientele regularly based on your location 2. Dealing with break-ins constantly

Needing Better Bonus Structure

Pros

The help you get is amazing. From the training, to the teamwork.

Cons

Never getting two days off in a row without PTO is not very fun. They do always say work/life balance but this does not reflect that. You end up getting burnt out quickly. Schedule is slow to come in so making necessary appointments is nearly impossible. After Merger, we are making in a YEAR with Extra Space (on average), what we were making what we made QUARTERLY with Life Storage. So the biggest advice I do have for ES, is a better bonus structure. Because we only bonus off of the amount of move ins. And that is out of our control to an extent. If 10 reviews a month are mandatory, make an incentive to get them. No bonus for merch sales anymore as well. Not enough paid time off. Another bad thing about the merger, we lost a lost of PTO. Personally I lost 60 hours because we only have very few paid holidays. We are open almost every day of the year which is also not Work/Life balance.

Pros

-Consistent schedule, Sundays always off -The pay is very good compared to the rest of the storage industry -Decent work hours, and full time no matter what -No micro-managing from above, employees are expected to be self-sufficient which I appreciate -work life balance is very reasonable, apart from emergencies I don't have to worry or think about work when I am off -Organized training resources -They make a genuine effort to have districts feel like a team

Cons

-The amount of work and difficulty of the job heavily depends on the location you work at. I have worked extremely easy sites that are small, brand new, or in good areas. Those shifts are very nice, but I have also worked at locations that have 30 break ins a week and people peeing and defecating in elevators, which you are expected to deal with -The company is constantly expanding, and just when things settle and a sense of normalcy returns, they buy more companies and completely restructure your district and give more work to DMs which means less focus is given to your site -You are expected to meet their sales statistic minimums, but many of them are hard to meet if you are located in a poor area or have problems with your site like break ins or pest issues
