      Great way to gain industry experience

      Pros

      For an entry-level job for a recent graduate with very little professional experience, this job was perfect. Management had my back every step of the way, and I felt that I had full access to all the resources I needed to excel at my work. The team had some really great people. Some of them had been working in the field for over a decade, and they were always happy to help me out or to give me some advice. Not a single ego in sight among the crew, and it showed in how well we were able to function as a team. The salary was good. It was more money than I had ever seen, and I made enough to save up for better housing while covering all my living expenses. For someone who just got out of college, this was a huge deal.

      Cons

      I felt that I’d outgrown the position after being in it for so long. I probably could’ve found a way to move up in the company if I wanted to, but I also wanted some change in scenery.

      Probably the best warehouse conditions I’ve worked under in the last 5 years.

      Nothing so far, but we’ll see if that sticks after another year or so.

      A company that combines tech + baking

      Pros

      FGF Brands is a company that truly combines the latest tech with the best of the baking world. It’s an exciting company to be a part of because we’re completely disrupting an industry that has been around for decades. What’s so surprising once you work here, though, is just how mind-blowing a simple statement like “affordable, mass-produced food should be made with quality ingredients and not chemical substitutes” is to some people. I think it should be a no-brainer, but for companies that have been making money hand over fist feeding people chemical-filled imitation food just the idea of what we’re accomplishing is considered a massive threat. But to that I say, “Good”! People deserve better, and not just the wealthiest people, but all people. I’m proud to be part of a company that holds these values and that is striving to do right in a world that so often puts profit over people. We’re not just making industrial baking more sustainable and health-conscious, we’re changing the world. And if you’re someone who thinks that’s a bold statement or that I’m exaggerating, then this isn’t the company for you. We’re doing big things and we’re making even bigger changes. We need people with big ideas, big personalities, and an even bigger sense of determination to reach our goals. Anyone who doesn’t feel as strongly as we do about the current state of food and where it could be in the future is not going to be a good fit here.

      Like I said, if you’re not passionate about food or shaking things up in the mass-produced baked goods industry this isn’t the place for you. People who come in and are passionate and motivated and excited THRIVE here. No exaggeration. The people who come in looking for an easy job and a good paycheck end up complaining, ruining the environment, and leaving with the belief that this is an awful company to work for that demands far too much of its employees. But that’s not true. The truth is the right people love it here because it’s a work of love. My advice to potential future employees is to do some serious soul searching before you apply here. If this is what you truly want out of your career, by all means shoot your shot. But if you just want a job and you don’t really care where, go look elsewhere. We don’t need that kind of energy and we don’t want it.
