Pros

Great colleagues, great projects, people work hard and are dedicated. There is a lot of interesting and important work going on at FHI 360. Benefits are great and salary is generous. Great for technically-oriented job seekers.

Cons

As mentioned in so many other reviews, upper management is seriously out of touch with the zeitgeist of the organization and their employees. Internal systems are inefficient, the quality of support services is often abysmal. The operational aspects of running projects are more DIY, without any cross-project learning or support systems. Not sure there is a viable, long-term strategic plan in place. Upper management only seems to listen to those in their immediate circle, which leads to strategic decisions that benefit those individuals and their careers more than the organization as a whole. For more support services-oriented job seekers - do your homework and talk to people in the organization before considering a position with the org.

Pros

FHI 360 is a great place to get started when you are new to the field of international development. Because it is a large organization if you are proactive you will have the opportunity to see a wide scope of what different niches are available in this sector.

Cons

FHI 360 underpays and overworks its employees HR is very resistant to salary transparency. Additionaly FHI 360 struggles to address DEI issues and have a very homogeneous leadership in most departments. In my current department there are no non-white senior leaders and there are no plans to change this. Additionally, FHI is comfortable overworking junior staff and paying them a "starvation wage" . According to the CEO getting paid a starvation wage is just apart of the experience of junior level staff.

Pros

humanitarian work, good benefits, good systems in place

Cons

Absolutely horrendous supervisor. He belittled, harassed, never gave feedback on performance until the last minute, played mind games. Made my life miserable. I would never work there again.
