Pros

Not likely to lose my job. Some attempts by middle management to improve work situation. A fair amount of autonomy in my job.

Cons

No teamwork or sharing within the company. No effort to improve working conditions for satellite divisions. Incredible inequity between old FIS and new employees acquired in takeover. Terrible top management. Absolutely no idea what is happening in the company. Their only motivation seems to be in maximizing personal gain. No loyalty to what is largely a hard-working employee base.

Pros

It is nearly impossible to be fired. As long as you don't clock in and leave for the day (aka. steal from the company) or call someone in senior management a horrible name, you're pretty safe. Benefits are pretty nice as well, especially the vision plan as of 2011. An extra week of vacation after 5 years with the company. Your next week comes after 15 years of service.

Cons

Please keep in mind, all of this is only relating to the technology side of the house in St. Petersburg, FL. Annual reviews have not counted towards annual pay increases for the past 4 years. Instead, management has decided to give blanket increases to everyone, so it's "fair." For a company run and managed by so many capitalist republicans, this is workplace socialism at its finest. Extra work has been piled on people, which is to be expected. However, the "you should be thanking me you have a job" attitude that is given, when you attempt to push back, should never be accepted. There are limits to human efficiency. You will need to chart your own career path. This office is honestly filled with some of the nicest people I've ever had the pleasure of working with, but they can't help you move forward in your career. Not for lack of trying, but there truly is no where to go unless someone retires or dies. And even in those cases, the rule of thumb is that the business does not promote from within.

Pros

The people were very nice, there was regular feedback, the dress code was casual, and the floor supervisors were very accessible.

Cons

The pay was lower, there was no sense of there being advancement opportunities, and it could be a very high stress job, especially in the holiday season.
