Pros

Leadership cares about employees and gives space them to grow and thrive. As with anything, you get out of it what you put into it. FM Global has been in business a long time and has solid people running the company. With a company this size there are always outliers, but top leadership is genuine, strong, bold and cares. I feel supported, encouraged and valued.

Cons

In some ways you make your own opportunities and have to actively push for and ask for what you want. Some departments have different cultures and with so much change lately there are definitely hiccups. Understandably, sometimes employees are left feeling like they need to leave to get ahead. Sometimes management problems aren't dealt with in a timely fashion. People leave because of opportunities, managers and how they are treated, not compensation.

Pros

Compensation is fair at all levels; pretty good after you factor in 401k match and future value of pension. You can make more elsewhere, but I think you'd have a worse time doing it. Benefits are good at higher pay grades, but exceptional for administrative paygrades compared to others. Abundant lateral and vertical growth opportunities; though traditionally heavily weighted toward engineering degree holders. Business model is hard to replicate well, lending to company stability. Exceptional training for technical positions Lots of 'little things' type perks. Good management of staff during pandemic. Many were dissatisfied with the vaccine mandate, but it shouldn't be overlooked that for 16 months FM Global's handling has been very good.

Cons

The pace of change to standards and processes can be overwhelming in recent years. It seems we've gotten quite top-heavy, and this could be a contributing factor (with every newly minted important position comes a newly minted vision that has to be implemented or process that must be changed). On the whole, the changes are moving us in the right direction but the volume is just a lot to keep up with.

Pros

FM has excellent benefits (Health insurance, HSA, dental, vision, 4 weeks starting vacation) and the work is varied. It changes constantly and you are always learning something new. This is a unique opportunity for people with engineering degrees.

Cons

The compensation for engineers is quite poor for the challenging work you do, and you are a salaried employee. Management relies on their excellent benefits as a crutch for not paying a competitive salary. Many in management are vastly out of touch with what happens in the field and lacking in knowledge.
