Pros

Cool products supporting national defense and space exploration. Health insurance is the best I've seen since Obamacare started. Lots of new people coming in and many openings. Very busy for good reasons. Management is approachable and wants opinions on how to improve. Lots of opportunity to make a difference and to stand out for great work. Good job security supporting government. New CEO seems approachable and fair.

Cons

Growing fast can cause growing pains. Company was owned by one guy for 40 years and has some history that isn't great and hard to shake. A few negative people create way to many headaches.

Pros

Prior to my employment at Fiber Materials Inc. I looked at reviews about the company online. The image of what the company does (manufactures composites for aerospace and defense industry) seemed incredibly appealing, but I noticed opinions were lacking. I took mental notes of those reviews and stored them away for a comparison post interview process. It is my opinion that FMI presents its self very professionally and genuinely. Never in my life would I have imagined a CEO sitting in on an interview for a new hire. That demonstrated a level of dedication and care for the people that FMI chooses to be a part of its team. From my experience the work environment at FMI has been dynamic and engaging. The projects and products we develop and/or manufacture have an impact and value in our country, which is rewarding on a personal level. If you told me six months ago I would be working on components for missions to Mars and parts that are focused towards saving astronaut lives, I would have told you, “you're crazy!” Senior management is listening to members of FMI from bottom to top and seeking new ways to: improve the work environment, grow in size, and provide more competitive benefits to employees.

Cons

Growth and development require patience and time. Previous places I have worked had a cafeteria, FMI currently does not. The company would benefit by finding additional ways to bring FMI team members together outside of work for RNR.
