Good Place to Start

Pros

Positive and relaxed atmosphere. Employees are eager to help and accomplish monthly financials. Great place to start in Property Accounting. You get an okay health and dental insurance. Good work/life balance but it also doesn't make a a lot of sense in this position. Management is pretty cool, they are improving systems and upgrading software and hardware. The President is probably one of the nicest people you can meet.

Cons

Low growth opportunity, no matching and no incentives.

Pros

Lots of room for growth within the company, upward mobility is a big part of beginning your career here at FPI, both of my managers started as leasing consultants and promoted through the career path. It's an excellent thing to hear about as a new hire. I've gotten great training since I started, both online and with management. My managers genuinely care about my progress and have worked with me since my first day. I had costumer service and sales experience, but learning everything there is in property management would definitely be a lot more daunting if not for my terrific managers and portfolio manager. The work day goes by fast, there is often a lot going on and to manage, but its always manageable with support, which is plentiful in this field. The work-life balance is good, I start at 9, and get off at 6 and often find I still get to enjoy life even when working full time, a big step in the right direction from my previous job, where it was work, work, work. The pay structure is excellent for an entry level office job, you get a decent hourly wage, and are rewarded for you performance ( when your rentals move in) and its always a nice and welcome bonus. There are also annual and monthly bonuses in addition to rentals, depending on your property i'd imagine. Overall, I'd say the structure works really well, and its not commission based, so you're always bringing home a consistent check.

Cons

When your new it can be pretty overwhelming, there is A LOT to learn. Seriously, I learn something new literally ever day. Its manageable, but there are little moments of stress or being overwhelmed, but that comes with most jobs, the difference here is you learn to handle it and adapt. If its slow and your not getting rentals, some starting hourly wages can feel like you could just use a little more, but this is entirely circumstantial, and my experience so far a positive one. Property management is 7 days a week, not everyone gets to be Monday-Friday, so one weekend day is often seen for entry level employees. Depending on the season your traffic can be a little low, which can make your day feel slow, but being less busy has an upside, you can get more paperwork done.
