Middling company, great co-workers

Pros

Work/life balance is excellent, on site supervisors are excellent. Company is mostly hands off, for better or for worse.

Cons

No advancement, no raises, and obscene policy of not allowing an employee any vacation time until they have reached 1 year with the company. Additionally, no more office closure funds, so if your agency shuts down, you don't get paid for that day unless you take a sick day or make it up, unlike your federal co workers.

Pros

My co-workers are all good, smart people that I'm glad I met. Most of the people I dealt with in the district and resident offices were good people too. Good way to get your foot in the door to getting a real job with a pension by networking with the customer.

Cons

Where to begin...no chance for advancement, no raises for YEARS, people in management positions who are incapable of supervising anyone, supervisors who are only concerned with being in control, micromanaging, and things that don't matter, high employee turnover, no contact with upper management unless you count constant emails reminding us to do our time sheets, terrible communication....the list is long.

Dear Former Employee – thank you for your more than 5 years of service with FSA. Our employees are our greatest asset – and we appreciate your words of praise for your FSA co-workers. FSA has many open positions currently, and we fill many of our open positions with internal candidates. We acknowledge the perception that there is no chance for advancement – and are working hard to address it. FSA has many new positions, some on new contracts, and we encourage our internal employees to apply. And although our turnover is trending higher than we would like– our turnover for the past 10 years has been below industry average. To improve the communication flow throughout the company, we are reaching out to our employees in many ways – including site visits, phone calls, and with our newsletter. We appreciate your comments about offering training for our supervisors – we will look at ways to continue to offer pertinent training for all employees, including our supervisors.

Pros

Gained a lot of experience and met some great people

Cons

Employees are not valued, very bad employee moral, no pay increases, benefits costs are high, terrible work life balance, not a friendly place to work, excessive extreme micro-managing by management, no room for growth, contributions to company go unrecognized. This company has lost its focus on its mission and has gone totally down hill.

Dear Former Employee – First and foremost, thank you for your 10 years of service. We appreciate your comments - FSA strives to continually improve, and we welcome all constructive feedback. With such a long tenure with FSA, we hope that while you were here you found some value and satisfaction. You may not have been aware, but each year, FSA gives out hundreds of awards and bonuses, many of them based on the customer’s feedback about the superior service of our employees. As with any company in our industry, FSA does give pay increases when possible, and we plan to continue to do so. We remain absolutely focused on our mission – excellence in support to our customers, both internal and external. We continue to be committed to providing robust benefits to our employees, at an affordable cost. Lastly, employee morale is vitally important to us - we welcome the opportunity to address employee issues when we are made aware of them. Again – thank you for sharing your opinion. Your comments are taken very seriously, and your concerns have been noted.
