Marketing department: so long as you do what you are told, no matter how stupid it is, you won't be fired.
Pros
Free soda and very friendly people. Some of my best friends work here.
Cons
The Marketing department is very poorly mismanaged. In just a quarter of a year, I know that the Marketing Technology team more than halved in turnover rate. It is routine for Marketing to circumvent not only teams inside itself, but also the rest of the company (mainly development) to get what they want in very unconventional "hacky" ways. And I know for a fact that Marketing Technology shoulders a large brunt of the blame for this from Development, when they absolutely hate doing what they are forced to do because all of our jobs are hung over our heads. And those are some fricken smart dudes. The Marketing department largely consists of underpaid and under-hired personnel, who's goal is to circumvent fellow Marketing teams to get done what they want to get done. There are several Promotional site managers who haven't the slightest clue about anything Web and it drives the rest of us crazy. And then you have a Design department that does anything but, nosing into other team's affairs and purposefully circumventing other teams. Why are these people still here?
