Pros

If you're starting out as an EMT you can get great experience, especially working on CCT shifts. Fellow employees are great. Training opportunities are good but management forgets to log trainings, ultimately putting your license at risk. Your raise will offset the cost of your increasing insurance premium, that's not necessarily a pro.

Cons

Low Pay Required Overtime No time provided to complete call reports (hence required overtime). Constantly changing policies Rude HR No matching 401(k) If you get sick and you don't have vacation time, you get "dinged" and ultimately fired, even though it's probably a good idea not to transport critically ill patients while sick. This applies even when you get someone to cover your shift (what!?)

Pros

Good benefits. Health insurance was good and inexpensive even for a family. Now it is just inexpensive for a family with high out of pocket maximums. 401(k) matching is 6 percent and last year I had a very good return. Employees are fun to work with.

Cons

Management does not listen to employees at all. They will do company meetings where they have a "round table" so employees can ask questions and suggest ideas, but it never leads to anything. The last one in December was a joke where managements response was "we pay legal wages, everyone makes no less than minimum wage." Which is true. So if you work there expect minimum wage and to NEVER get above that. Yes you MIGHT get a 3% cost of living increase, but you wont get more than that, and honestly that is not enough to cover the increase in rent food or insurance alone annually. Also they did just go to a 48 hour work a week work schedule for crews working 24 hours straight. They said it was for employee safety, but it happened to start right as Washington changed their minimum wage, so cut hours and you cut pay. Falck had HUGE potentional to the point the IAFF was scared. But because Falck USA brought NO values from Falck Denmark they just became another AMR.
