Pros

There are a lot of good people to work with, the training materials are pretty good and the on-line training is a plus

Cons

Reserve agent program is a take anyone who walks in the door and have them sell to friends program. DM spends more time recruiting new reserve agents than actually going on sales calls/presentations and showing how it's done. Often not even in the ball park on pricing. Spend a lot of time talking about subsidiy program, then you find out the thresholds are higher than you thought, they can yank your appointment at any time for any reason and if you don't pay the subisdy back right away they send you to collections. Spent way too much time drinking/messing around and not enough time on development. A lot of misleading information/empty promises given.

Pros

Farmers Insurance is a place for independant growth for the right person. If you have contacts in the insurance industry, or you have an agency handed down to you it is absolutely great. Otherwise the rates are way too high to be compettitive.

Cons

If you don't have contacts in the industry it is extremely difficult to create and maintain an agency. The rates are not compettitive enough and the company is just too conservative to keep up with how fast our insurance culture is growing.

Pros

Independent work atmosphere. Make your own schedule, do your own thing. Opportunity for unlimited income. Quality products.

Cons

The contract is becoming less and less independent yet there are still no benefits. I believe there should be more equal trade off. No marketing assistance; in fact they are slowly forcing agents to subscribe to Farmers marketing products and deducting it from wages. Some state management is cut throat, not the way it used to be.
