Pros

Great benefits for employee and family, generous compensation package, doing a job that makes state government better, get to travel to new places and experience new things, and feeling that your personal contribution matters and is valuable.

Cons

Two words: Long Hours. 10+ hour days and Saturdays in the months leading up to the roll-out are common and expected. Such hours make it difficult to participate in many forms of community service which require reliability and predictability. There isn't a lot of consistency from project location to project location. Some project managers provide performance feedback, some don't. Some project managers have informal processes for time-off/vacation requests, some have more specific processes to follow. It makes it hard to plan ahead.

Pros

Salary with lots of extras like Fully paid insurance premiums, paid overtime, good vacation, annual company retreat, and some new initiatives for an extra yearly bonus and a paid sabbatical month. Good work environment with active knowledgeable leadership, smart co-workers. The day to day job can be as rewarding and challenging as any other software career with lots of things to do/problems to solve. Company has a great reputation and takes pride in the work and employees There are a lot of opportunities now that weren't around when I started. It's a lot easier to try something different and find something that interests you.

Cons

Moving is hard, but they pay for relocation and try to work with you to help get where/what you want. Job can be a bit boring at times, since the core product doesn't exactly allow for free range development. Sometimes using the core approach isn't what the client wants, and it can be difficult to be the middle man. Especially when new to the company it's not always engaging because there are a lot of Fast-specific tools that you haven't learned how/when to use. Long hours can be expected, but that can vary project to project. Feedback is hard to obtain. You pretty much have to ask how you're doing.

Pros

Positive work environment. Helpful colleagues "team" atmosphere where everyone is out for the same goals Unmatched employee benefits Partners care about employee well-being and try to think of ways to promote engagement

Cons

Minimal feedback from superiors Hours can be long Assignments can change-course midstream, but this can also be positive because you will never be in trouble for "Wasting time" on something that isn't ultimately implemented.
