Pros

Fast is a great company to work for. They have a great salary scale and raises come often. The benefits really can't be beat, they believe in treating us as well as possible. It really is a company based around work hard, play hard as well, the company likes to party (in general, there are people who don't and thats fine too).

Cons

This is no stepping stone job. You will learn and grow professionally, but much of the programming knowledge you will gain is not applicable anywhere else. You have to be willing to move around and know that you don't have much choice in where you go. This can put strains on relationships and be a little stressful at times, but you are always moving to a new site that is full of people in the same situation, so there is almost always a good fast community. It is also a fairly flat company, with really only 2-3 feasible levels you can get to, base programmer, team lead, and project manager/architect. Raises come with new positions, but they also come regularly without changing positions. There are people in the company that have a lot of years under their belt while staying at the base programmer level.

Pros

During rollouts there is a lot of required/not required but expected overtime. Some people can't deal. You just need to put your personal life on hold for a few months. If you can't handle that, then this might not be the job for you. If you aren't in a rollout then you can often get away with 40 hrs/week. Overtime is compensated. I live with a Fastie, play sports with other Fasties, eat out with yet other Fasties. Many Fasties take vacations together. I have other friends, but it's nice having friends who actually have money to go do things. I plan on sticking with this company for a long time as I enjoy the work, the other Fasties, the pay, and getting to explore new cities every few years. AGM is amazing, as well (I count it as $2k worth of bonus when I'm evaluating other job opportunities).

Cons

Bureaucracy sucks. On the government side, not Fast side. It is amazing how long the clients can take to make decisions sometimes. Information such as future sites they want to put you on, when that will happen, etc., are often not given until close to the date. Sometimes dates ARE given and changed. I'm not sure if it can be helped or not, but it kind of sucks not knowing if/when you're moving. There is not a lot of feedback, especially during rollouts, and your team lead is probably trying to meet their deadlines so they don't have time to teach you stuff. Just learn what you can, figure it out. This can be stressful, but it really isn't that horrible.

Pros

Money. They get you drunk a lot.

Cons

Poor Management. Lack of training. Lack of professional/personal development. You get a piece of candy if you work overtime. You might live in WV or Canada. Morale is low; no one speaks to each other (just stare at a computer). Zero collaboration. Non-dynamic. Un-supportive environment. Move from home and provide no means of getting home on holidays. Moving company will break things that are important however unimportant to the company (moved twice, both times broke something irreplaceable).
