Pros

If you love signs and like selling them for barely any pay. Also, if you like standing 8 hours a day this is for you. Owner really hates it when you sit down, like, at all.

Cons

Communication with the owner is lacking, no direct deposit, fellow employees act like it's high school and gossip about each other behind backs, there is no management, I could go on.

Pros

Good exposure to the sign production industry and, if you're a graphic designer, good hands-on experience in learning and utilizing the techniques required to transfer your designs from digital comp to physical fabrication. Putting projects together could sometimes be a fun and enjoyable experience. Corporate is very quick and efficient to assist you, should you require their assistance in any way.

Cons

Overall atmosphere really depends on the franchise owner, which constitutes a varying work environment from shop to shop. My experience was unfavorable; the employees at the family-run shop were downright miserable every day, would often hide-out to pass time without assisting with the workload, and (including the owner) were very easily prone to temper tantrums. Family issues were sometimes brought into the workplace and friendly, casual communication seemed near-impossible. Overall, it just really seemed like no one wanted to work there, which created a bland, miserable atmosphere with very low morale. Aside from the environment, the pay-scale was rather low for one with a degree in Graphic Design (especially considering there were no benefits), there was barely any room for advancement, and the hours were horrendous.
