Pros

- I was lucky enough to have a manager who genuinely cared about my growth, knew how to play to my strengths, and advocated for our team. - The people I worked with were all incredibly kind, smart, and helpful. I learned a lot from them. - I got hired when Fastly was 100% remote so work-life balance was awesome. Unlimited PTO and monthly wellness days was nice too, but not sure how much longer that will last. - Generally felt like a pretty laidback place to work overall. The work was sometimes challenging but never felt impossible.

Cons

- In the past year there was a lot of shuffling around at the top level, which gave the impression that leadership didn’t really know what they were doing - Also in the past year there’s been more and more unplanned work coming from the top down. We would make a quarterly plan and then the CEO would suddenly have us make a new unplanned feature because if we did it would move the stock price (it never did) - Fastly said they were committed to being fully remote but recently started requiring people to return to the office and only hiring local positions. Someone asked why we were switching to hiring locals only in an all-hands and the unsatisfying answer basically boiled down to “because I said so.” - Stock price in the gutter so the RSU comp you’ll get won’t be worth very much. - I really enjoyed my time working there but the experience was soured by how cold and abrupt the layoffs were. The contrast between how I was treated by my direct manager and how I was treated by the C-suite was incredibly jarring. - Apparently CEO Todd sometimes yells at people

Pros

Some of your colleagues actually try to do a good job.

Cons

Over a decade of terrible leadership has really come home to roost. The company is way below IPO price due to a steady stream of the worst executive hires I've ever seen. Is the new CEO and head of product any good? Who knows, but even if they are total geniuses they wont be digging out of the massive hole they're in. Talented collegues who weren't lucky enough to bail during a better job market are quitting anyway to take pay cuts, because who would you want to spend their time working for these people.

Pros

not much at this point. Some work location flexibility.

Cons

Good people are leaving the company, and technical talent with extensive tribal knowledge of how things work is walking out the door. The benefits of working remotely are dwindling, and the return-to-office mandate doesn't sit well with a workforce that used to be remote-first. Stock is crashing, there's a severe lack of leadership, and there's rampant incompetence across all levels of the company.
