Pros

The recent contract negotiations have elevated the pay scale greatly and will have entry level assistants making a decent living. Don't spend it all in one place and a domestic tour will leave your bank account well stocked by the end of an 7 month tour. 3 show day pay, 7th day, and holiday pay can make some weeks payout 1.2k net or higher. You will most likely get to see a lot of the world in short order. It really just depends on what show needs the help and how you are doing your job. The personal management at the corporate level is all former road going techs up to and including the VP positions. They have a lot to manage but they do try.

Cons

Shared rooms, sometimes very cheap hotels, long bus rides after load out, and not having an accountant on tour anymore are large downsides. The shared room situation will always be a sticking point. It is the same for the performers but everyone would like their own room as an adult. The bus situation is worse in my opinion. It depends on the attitude of each crew after load-out but you are usually straight onto a regular charter bus for a 3-8 hour drive after. Everyone has their own row but being stinky and sweaty for that long is uncomfortable when all you want to do is sleep. There are flights but getting 75-90 people through an airport has its own issues. They try to get the best hotels they can but CMs and TCs have a narrow band to work within when booking. There was always 2 or 3 very questionable hotels on each tour that made you not want to stay in the room to long. Not having an accountant on the tours anymore was a money decision post covid and it has hurt the quality of life. You now are responsible for putting in your per diem yourself each week, all ticket requests are done via a portal, and reimbursements are also done by an app. This is definitely a personal preference but having the cash in hand and having another person in the office to help with the work load made a huge difference in my eyes.

- REPLACEABLE - Long work hours with not enough pay (If on Staff/management/FCP side) - Unqualified management for jobs such as people who have no experience. - Very clicky (high school & favoritism) - Take advantage of young/hungry people - Very gossipy
