Pros

At one time a very good company. Fellow employees are loyal to the company to a fault.

Cons

From the General Manager all the way up to corporate, it is every man for themselves now. The company, like many others, were not prepared for the downturn, and the entire system is built around growth and volume. When the economy took a dive, the model did not work anymore. The quickest way to cut expenses is to get rid of you most expensive employees. Most of the key people lost in this market left on their own. Most went to the competition. Speaking about the Dallas area specificlly, if and when the market comes back, there will be no left to handle the business.

Pros

I cannot think of any good reason to work at Ferguson, except maybe your co-workers excluding managers. You get to drink on the job....a lot

Cons

Managers are extremely inept, unable to make decisions and this led to the downfall of the area I was in. Managers seem to be only concerned with saving the own jobs and could care less how their decisions effect everyone elses life. Back biting and bickering are commonplace as well as a general lack of respect. Sexual abuse is rampant, heaven help you if your a woman or have morals and wish to not be subjected to a constant barrage of pornography and course language. All it would take is for someone to step up and file a lawsuit and this whole company would come crumbling down. The plumbers you serve are ignorant and are allowed to berate and abuse the associates and at times it is encourged if you are a new hire to see if you can "handle it". Totally outdated computer system, and the benefits were way overpriced.

Pros

Salary; possibility for skill training

Cons

Blue blood corporate environment; male-dominated management; cliques and petty feuds; shifting blame along the line instead of taking responsibility. Squashes creativity absolutely.
