Toxic Culture

Pros

Amazing core values, if the company could only keep true to them. The CEO has a good heart and he really does want this company to have a positive impact on people's lives. The product itself is does speak to that. Like any product, it has areas it can improve on, but it's a solid product and the team behind building it is incredible. Most employees work really hard and are really great people.

Cons

1. The culture is incredibly toxic. This company is at war with itself. I want to emphasize the difference between company core values and culture. The core values want to be great, but the internal culture is truly toxic. There are a lot of employees in operations that don't last much more than a year. If you are part of the favorite group, you have a chance of making it a little longer, but eventually most people will burn out. 2. I realize this sounds coo coo for coco puffs, but this is an emotionally abusive company. 3. Work life "harmony" doesn't exist. 4. Employees are not valued. 5. No matter how hard you work, how good you are at what you do, how well you communicate with leadership and/or clients, you will always be a failure. 6. Leadership has massive ego issues. 7. Leadership is hypocritical. 8. Clients, usually attorneys that know how to be mean, will almost always be escalated and Implementation Consultants are on the front line of that wrath. Rather than supporting staff and actually facing the issue, leadership throws a temp bandaid on and may just provide the client a credit. 9. S**t rolls downhill. I could go on, but the core issue is that culture is toxic. Buyer beware! Operation leadership has some significant core issues. They need to face their own failures before any change in culture will even begin to happen. There are certain levels of leadership that are egotistical and arrogant, and this means that a solution to the culture issues is not really within sight at this time. This company will implode if leadership doesn't make changes within themselves.

An Unfortunate Experience

Pros

-Food -Stunning Office -Great coffee

Cons

Working at Filevine has been a deeply disappointing experience, marked by broken promises, excessive workload, and a toxic work culture. Firstly, the company made grand promises of extra bonuses, only to renege on them without explanation or apology. This lack of transparency and integrity left employees feeling deceived and undervalued. Furthermore, the work environment resembles that of a sweatshop, with employees being pushed to their limits and expected to overwork to burnout. There is little regard for work-life balance, and employees are discouraged from prioritizing customer care, undermining the very ethos of quality service. Despite claims of encouraging time off, taking PTO is frowned upon and often discouraged, creating a culture of burnout and stress. Additionally, the quotas set by management are often unattainable, leading to demoralization and a sense of constant failure among employees. Upper management is characterized by rudeness and entitlement, with little interest in mentoring or supporting their teams. Instead of fostering growth and development, they prefer to flaunt their success and status, further exacerbating the divide between employees and leadership. In conclusion, working at Filevine is not for the faint of heart. It's a place where promises are broken, work is relentless, and respect for employees is sorely lacking. Proceed with caution.

Toxic "Bro-Culture" & Boys Club - No Loyalty Among Thieves

Pros

Solid product and decent tech stack when sold and managed correctly. Some of the mid-level colleagues are genuinely talented and hardworking people just trying to survive the day. You will learn a lot quickly—mostly because you’ll be doing the job of three people.

Cons

If you can pay your bills with slices of pizza, handfuls of peanut butter M & Ms, or a Filevine t-shirt, Filevine culture is for you! If you're hired, say hello to the slightly less cringy Salt Lake county sales bro culture (a minute upgrade to the infamous Utah County/Silicon Slopes version of sales bros). And while you are much less likely to be vocally judged by Mormon standards and less likely to hear Mormon lore woven into your day-to-day, those things are still present and form the foundation for so much of the 'culture' and the unspoken value placed on you as an employee. Sadly, the rising tide of success at Filevine doesn't raise all ships. If you do somehow find yourself in the room with the top ranks of leadership giving one another high-fives and regularly updating your Slack status to variations of 'LFG' or 'ABC', sleep with one eye open and be prepared to 'CYA'. Someone will be kicked off the island periodically and when you least expect it, it may be you. As for the ranks of Filevine underlings, hopefully you've negotiated a living wage that won't be rendered irrelevant when your territory is inexplicably snatched away or your targets are turned upside down. This Filevine 'family' ensures all members are subject to periodic doses of insecurity and anxiety.
