Service Manager

Pros

I enjoy my job. I like most of the people that I work with. My actual job duties are very reasonable.

Cons

Area manager treats people like dirt. Management takes advantage of hard workers, increasing responsibility with no increase in pay. If the store manager quits, the service manager is expected to absorb those responsibilities until further notice which is fine but there needs to be some sort of compensation for all of the extra work and many extra hours worked to make sure the store does not fail.

Pros

Advancement Benefits Store atmosphere helping stranded people

Cons

The Company will promise you the moon to get you in there, then give you some gold wrapped chocolate if your lucky. Upper Management will hang you out to dry, they are a "sink or swim" company who use escape goats to justify actions. Top pay, even for store managers, is lower than most lube techs at dealerships and jiffy lubes. Company says they invest in their employees, but don't. Company will hire McDonalds workers as techs to fill positions. There is no conformity, and good luck to get any useful training. High Turn over. Numbers are everything, if you have 1/10 of the employees as the previous year they still expect the numbers. Very few managers and sales people make bonuses. Upper Management changes too often. Lets great employees go in order to save a dollar. No power for Store level Managers, just loads of paperwork, stress, and useless meetings.

Not what it used to be

Pros

Job security, great customers, great team. Benefits are great. Products are great. Computer system is best in class. Clean locations.

Cons

Work life balance, something changes everyday, no one in upper management has a clue what actually happens in a store. Very unrealistic bonus programs. They only focus on the stores in trouble. It was fun 3 years ago.
