Pros

In it's day First American was a great place to work, since the change in ownership it has gone down hill. First American used to be the "Biggest Small Company you'll ever work for". Local, State and Regional managers were grown from the bottom up. First American has/had an excellent benefits package which has been fading during the market down turn. Compensation is below standards, but this is a reflection on the health of the Title industry.

Cons

Majority Shareholder is a mutual fund with no interest in the long term health of the company, it is currently being split up into separate companies. It appears that employees are being forced into retirement, based on age and compensation. Full time employees are being downsized and thier jobs offshored or replaced by temp workers.
