I worked in back office collections in Beaverton, OR and it always seemed like they were asking more and more of us. They boasted how lean they ran compared to other credit union and bank collection departments without realizing (or caring) that they were basically boasting how cheap they were. Our pay was technically competitive ($16-18/hr) until you added all the additional stuff we had to do over and above keeping loan delinquency down. And in a 40 hr week too; they were chintzy with OT.
Lots of dissatisfaction among the collections advisors and reps (reps worked under advisors, who were sort of like leads) about pay, micromanagement, and endless meetings. At any time a large # of employees in that department are looking elsewhere.
