Managers are the worst.

Pros

Great CEO, non profit. Members are easy going. Team is good

Cons

Terrible management. Nitpicking, and micromanaging. It is always do this or you will get a write up. If you have a family in the credit union then they discriminate. Those employees get a special treatment to help them meet their goals. They want to hear positive feedback for their policies. Goals are unrealistic. It is becoming like Wells Fargo or Bank of America- Managers pushing to meet goals. If they continue at this pace they will loose their employees. Customer service is expected but the Sales is the priority- it is all about sales and numbers. Getting a sick leave, doctors appointment, family care- forget it. Going to school is one of things they promote but the managers discourage it and threaten and are not flexible with your schedule. It is job or school. Cultural awareness is missing among the lower management. Training is one of the worst. It is said that during the employee feedback it is said to be anonymous but it is actually not and they who said what and then the employee gets into hot water. Management likes to divide and rule.

Pros

None. Worst job I’ve ever had.

Cons

Poor work/life balance. Poor treatment of employees outside of headquarters (Seattle/Portland). No opportunity to grow. Overly aggressive sales-culture. Poor culture overall despite knowing what to tell new employees. Needlessly cruel coaching practices from senior leadership team. Unwilling to listen to employees. Constant turnover. Unwilling to promote from within. Was asked on numerous occasions to lie to direct reports about prospective career opportunities, was told to "dangle the carrot" and not allowed to make decisions for my branch. It's basically all of the worst things about working at a big bank (culture) with none of the benefits (compensation, career development). Under no circumstances should anyone apply for a position at this company.

Pros

Great people, easy finance systems to learn, good benefits, smooth process flow for mortgage department.

Cons

Lower pay. Good managers lack backbone to disagree with poor management to make a positive change. Credit Union environment was great until moving into new building. CU is going corporate & loosing that CU feel for employees. Micro management. Your individuality & ideas are not appreciated nor wanted.
