Pros

Fun environment Decent employee discount Growth potential

Cons

“Hold the penny hostage” should apply anywhere but with your employees. PAY BETTER!!! You can afford to. It’s ok to go Into debt for your employees so they can make a livable wage. All the best talent isn’t being attracted because of the current pay model. Should be allowed to wear whatever you want within reason. Or let your employees wear the shirts you buy from the shirt wall. Every company I’ve worked for previously was given some welcome package. At least a book bag, a notepad, pen, a welcome gift card. All I got as a Store Manager was an ugly baseball tee shirt and a measly two week training that wasn’t super thorough. Manager schedule guidelines are awful let your managers run the business and have work/life balance. FB is trying to be Claire’s for some reason and snuck Ear piercing into their store operations. Retail businesses being responsible for punching holes into people.

Pros

Queer friendly, can select non-binary in application process 20% discount

Cons

Zero help at store level from corporate Abysmally low pay rates, less than $1 range for regular employees to grow and anyone below a manager is locked beneath $15/hr, which is the average STARTING rate in the area Corporate has openly bragged about keeping their costs down through low wages and minimum hours (they think 12 hours average at less than $15/hr is acceptable and outright say if employees want more they can find another job) Corporate forces near constant set (plan-o-gram) changes with the only noticeable break being over the summer but fails to send all items needed for the sets in time for them to be done leaving sets half completed, partially empty, and/or filled with things completely unrelated New store managers get hired on only to leave in ~2 months time, almost always because of lack of support and empty promisses by the company

Pros

growth company, travel opportunities, diverse and engaged employees, ability to impact your business and take lots of ownership, paid parental leave began in 2021, exciting environment, down-to-earth executive team who are open to engaging with associates at all seniority levels

Cons

zero formal training, constantly putting out fires due to lack of formal processes, widespread burnout at expense of employee wellbeing, transition to remote work sacrificed the cool company culture which lead to high turnover of early-mid career merchants during the pandemic
