Pros

If you work hard, approach your job with passion and creativity, and can prove your value to management, you can get promoted quickly here. Management is always on the lookout for fresh talent who can show them that they’re ready to take on more responsibility. At so many other companies I’ve worked for promotions are all about who you know, but here it’s about what you know and, more importantly, what you can do.

Cons

Expect the hotel/resort staff to try to bring their drama into your work day. You can just choose to ignore it, but it’s still an annoying distraction.

Pros

A company that will treat you well, but you still have to earn respect. Having an excellent work ethic is a good start. Being a team player is another way to earn the respect of management. All candidates who put in the work can move up easily. Like I said, you have to earn it.

Cons

Communication from corporate management needs to be better.

Pros

As far as the AV industry goes, Five-Star is one of the better companies. So many AV companies over promise and under deliver to clients, but that has never been the case at Five-Star. Every single client I’ve worked with has been floored by the quality of our services and has been very vocal in their praise to everyone on my team. I would recommend the company to anyone interested in a position here because you actually feel good in the work you do, and you’re paid well.

Cons

The workload can get overwhelming, especially during event season. The staff is incredible, and everyone will pitch in and help when needed, but it’s definitely a stressful environment.
