Pros
1. Good exposure to the entire trading workflow. This allowed me to get an overall under standing of the full trading stack. Various components such as exchange connectivity( order entry and market data). Risk Management module. As well as exposure to front end user interface creation. 2. Exposure to Algorithmic trading workflow. I have worked on multiple algorithms when working for flextrade. The Algo engine and the framework for the same is one of the best in the industry. 3. The management is very flat and you can get access to your manager or the director very easily. HR department are on top of every thing. They are approachable and do what ever is in their power to solve your issues. 4. The pantry is filled with fruits. Helpful when you want to grab a quick healthy bite. 5. Liberal use of new up to date tech in your day to day work.
Cons
1. Based on the requirements, you may get shifted to different modules very quickly. This is both a blessing and a curse, as it does gives you a better overall picture of the product, however this comes at the price of the mastery of a module. 2. Some of the core modules are quite old. (extremely well designed but old). They are being rewritten/rebuilt using new technology, however most of the dev work for the same is handled by the US Dev team. There were processes happening to offshore some of the dev work regarding this to India when I was on my notice period.
