Pros

The technology of the Milwaukee system is slick although becoming dated. Pay can be good for the area (benefits are not).

Cons

It seems that the company that sells systems based on features that don’t exist and often with arbitrary time frames. On top of that there is a firm mantra of "everyone does support," and poor engineering practices, general lack of real requirements, and hack & slash ethos. (Keep in mind these are long-term impressions, not assertions of specific facts.) The firm's core software has no deployment system, and to upgrade an installation sometimes takes days or even weeks, because each such event is a complex manual process. It also behaves differently in virtually every environment. That software is tightly integrated with the Milwaukee system, causing constant stress. ITS delays for simple tasks are long and mistakes, etc. very common. There no motivation on the part of anyone with power to improve any of these things. Everything seems perpetually under-budgeted - hardware, support resources, etc. Never mind the long-term pain this causes the employees taking up the slack and taking the heat. Read the other lengthy negative reviews here. They contain further insights. "I've never seen anything like this" resonates. Keep in mind that the most accurate representation of a firm from an employee's point of view comes from those who have left the firm, for whatever reason. You won't find a single *good* developer who's left this one and has a positive impression.

Great people marred by terrible management

Pros

Friendly, knowledgeable people, good office atmosphere

Cons

Poor management, lack of trust, unwillingness to change and adapt. Management shows very little trust in their employees, and this reflects in employee attitudes. There have been attempts to cover this over by sending out employee surveys, however none of the feedback ever seems to be truly taken into account and worked upon. There needs to be a change in leadership strategy as what's current in place is clearly ineffective. Increasingly draconian security policies are making this worse, and the worst part is that these are often implemented without any forethought or consideration of their impact, which then leaves people unable to do their work. Any criticism or technical problems that are raised seem to be ignored, and then people have the gall to criticize despite forewarning! The attitude is very much "fingers in ears" until it's too late. Then when something inevitably breaks or goes wrong, there is an expectation that people will be working long hours to fix these issues, despite them being entirely manufactured and often avoidable. The company's penchant for avoiding spending money wherever possible has caused many issues which often ironically results in more money and many man-hours being spent on fixing these issues. There definitely seems to be a "not-invented-here" problem where the wheel is re-invented many times instead of using known solutions (often since they are deemed to save money). On the flipside, many expensive software products have been rolled out which are worse than the cheaper counterparts that were used before them.
