A great startup experience

Pros

The people and culture, dedication to the product and company, open communication to a level that rarely exists at other places, great perks (free food, excellent insurance, 401k and commuting benefits). I genuinely enjoy spending time with the people I work with.

Cons

Consistently understaffed, can get stressful due to workload+time constraints . All this being said, it is a startup and to some degree that's to be expected. If you want to work at an easy job with little chance of a big upside, go work for a huge corporation.

Pros

Start writing production code on day one

Cons

Still a small team so everything hasn't been figured out yet. But that is also part of the fun.

Pros

-People here are very nice and open to talking to you, and many team members are brilliant -Unlimited vacation days (and you really can take vacations when you want, if you need it) -Really fun, beautiful product that's tackling a lot of things (journalism, finding the best stories) -Historically one of the first apps ever to hit the iPad market, and still maintains a lot of brand presence -People think you're cool when you tell them you work at Flipboard, and there's a huge user base

Cons

-Very few opportunities for advancement. There's no internal structure for proper promotions or evaluating your performance (so no opportunities to review your work or ask for a promotion) -Lack of guidance for managers across the board. Company is still in a mindset of being a smaller startup than it actually is. -HR is not friendly or welcoming. Not the type you automatically want to go to for help when there's a problem -A lot of focus on keeping the product the same instead of innovating it over time to meet customer needs. The team operates on what feels like random intuition, instead of checking and testing with users or incorporating feedback -The product tackles too much right now. They're adding more and more features to it like a Christmas tree, instead of paring it down to the essentials. As a result, I'm not convinced the product is something people will automatically look at everyday
