Pros

Working at Flock has been a largely positive and rewarding experience. The company is remote-first, offers fair pay and meaningful equity, and fosters an excellence mindset that encourages high standards and continuous improvement. There are strong opportunities to learn and grow, supported by a respectful work environment and truly exceptional colleagues who care about doing great work and supporting one another.

Cons

One challenge is that, as Flock scales rapidly, there can sometimes be a lack of clarity around goals and long-term growth paths, but this also comes with the excitement of building and shaping a fast-growing company.

Pros

Decent pay. $750 budget for remote office setup. Benefits were so-so.

Cons

Major disconnect between C-suite and mid-level management, continuing downward to software engineering team. Both device firmware and cloud backend teams consistently deliver under-tested, buggy software which create continuous dumpster fires. Hero culture: Team member value depends upon who can grab the most high-visibility bugs to fix. Engineers compete for top hero spot. Will backstab to get out of responsibility for bugs, failures, crappy architectural decisions, etc. Not a lot of depth to the backend team, so architecture is crappy. Actual development tickets get less attention than the dumpster-fire-of-the-day issues. Endless weekly architecture/bug discussions, rehashing the same stuff from week to week. Not much actually happens, unless it's to address one of the weekly dumpster fires.

Pros

The LPR camera has a great product market fit

Cons

Unless you're assigned a solid territory, good luck. They will also change and cut your territory every quarter. They throw around PIPs like candy. I hit 115% first quarter and 75% second quarter and put on a PIP after being given a brand new territory. Absolutely awful place to work. Sales process - Over promise under deliver. It takes up to 6-12 months to get cameras in the ground but leadership tells you to tell the customers whatever they want to hear to sign the contract. Leadership wants you to pitch "project prove it" which will count towards your quota number but you wont get paid for it until they actually pay which won't happen until 2 months AFTER camera on the ground which can take over a year.
