Pros

Helping students is great. They're so enthusiastic and focused. It can be really hard for them to navigate all of the channels at FAU and they really appreciate when I take the time to help them find the answers they need.

Cons

Some managers are great, but as with many companies, some are not so great. Salary is not very good, benefits are okay. Parking can be impossible - can never leave for lunch in your car because you don't have time to find a space and return to your desk on time.

Pros

Lack of accountibility if you're in upper management. Many perks if you're in upper management. Good benefits if you're in upper management.

Cons

Finances controlled by State government. There is no longer any pension system, per se. No accountibility. Must have a PhD to be a Project Manager. Have to be a Project Manager to submit grant proposals. You're responsible for your research funding & the funding of any support staff needed. This all excludes upper management, HR personnel, IT staff, they're all hard funded.

Pros

They are truly one of the finest Universities in the United States. Their standards are high and they will motivate student and employee alike to be the best that they can be.

Cons

It would be nice to see more employee centered programs like day care for those with small children. Many companies now recognize the benefits of these types of programs especially when you have good employees that are worth the effort.
