Pros

No commute (gas, lunch money, etc.) Flexibility within reason all of my many bosses at FLVS have been helpful and professional Good professional development opportunities

Cons

Long hours difficult to sort professional life from family life teacher success is measured by a "credit goal" not teaching ability lack of human connections in day to day activities changes from the management at a whim unclear policies

Pros

- flexible, really getting to know students, great work/life balance, tons of support from the administration. -I am a first year teacher here at FLVS and was very scared when I read some of these reviews. I have never worked an 80hr week- not even when I was first learning everything. The support I recieved from my mentor, instructional leader and high level of professional development opportunities are amazing.

Cons

There are going to be cons with every job. The largest and only thing that I dislike is that we need to complete a certain number of students a year. I agree with the completions, however I do not feel that my numbers should be impacted if a student decideds they do not want to take the course anymore, never even start the course or better yet they were placed in it by their guidance counselor by mistake.

Pros

Flexibiltiy (somewhat) Helping children who are ill or have other challenges to be successful

Cons

Every review that says you work nonstop is absolutely true. You must answer the phone every time it rings. If a parent complains they got voicemail you are in trouble. The emphasis is on completions so you will end up pushing kids thorugh who haven't learned anything because you will lose your job if you don't meet your numbers. You spend 80% of your time chasing kids. If they don't call you back, it reflects negatively on you. Student signed up for the wrong course? That's also your fault.
