Not all it shines is gold

Pros

The company is growing fast however is understaffed.

Cons

Beware teachers out there thinking that working from home is relaxing and flexible. In the virtual environment you have to work 60-70 hours a week to justify 40. Teachers spend most of their days calling students and parents becoming babysitters and watch dogs.. If you hate to be on the phone all day long. This job is not for you. For every transaction you do on the phone or computer, you better track everything you do with reports, tallies, copies of e-mails, etc because like I say before, FLVS monitor your outgoing calls to parents and students but don't count time spent on e-mails, answering tons of text messages or incoming calls.

No back bone anymore

Pros

The working environment has it's advantages, like working from home and making your own schedule.

Cons

When I was let go, my contract was not renewed...completely understandable. However, my former boss did not have the guts to sit in the meeting. This individual got on the phone, told me my contract was not being renewed and hung up. No explanation, no good-bye, just a coward move. The "family" culture has completely dissappeared.

Used to be a better organization to work for...

Pros

Flexible work schedule Ability to work from home Decent pay and benefit cost Great team members and direct leadership

Cons

Ever changing requirements and management/leadership' s desire for employee to change on a dime without proper strategies in place Work/Life balance not important to leadership although this is what they continue to profess. Since the organization is largely funded by public education dollars, its stability is directly related to the state's budget health and education funding allocation.
