Pros

There are none. Stay away.

Cons

Julie and administrators live in a Group-Think paradise: if you agree with admin, you are a "balcony" person; if you don't, you are a "basement" person. I have a Master's in Business with many years experience--it's just painful listening to the CEO pontificate about how they are a learning organization (please--look up what that really means) and going on ad nauseum about the book Blue Oceans and Red Oceans. The administration reads business books for confirmation bias that they are doing all the correct things, rather than doing any genuine soul-searching. The company used to do "focus groups" with the employees, but if you said anything unflattering, you were fired, so it was an abject waste of time.

Pros

You have the ability to work at home.

Cons

No "real" support - training is vague No transparency - always in the dark, questions go unanswered From the first day of training, I was skeptical. The trainers laughed about the fact that everyone is so "happy" at FLVS and told a story of someone asking what Kool-Aid employees all drank. Well, I can tell you this is true! Such a "Stepford Wife" feeling going on. Kinda creepy! At that training, I just had the feeling that I was not going to be long with this company. Afterall, I was just an adjunct.... Lo and behold - my entire training class was "laid-off" due to enrollment. This was not the experience I had been expecting with FLVS. Be wary before taking anything full-time with FLVS! Also, be careful - the state has opened up the area of virtual learning to other companies - and they are entering the state in droves. Many districts are tired of FLVS and moving to other companies. Check those other companies out: Connections Academy, K12.com, Edmentum - just to name a few. Good luck!

Pros

You get to work from home so you will save on gas and the health benefits are not too bad.

Cons

You will work non-stop (12+ hours per day including Saturday and Sunday). You will truly have no personal life as students are constantly calling you even on weekends and if you don't answer them then they can complain which will cause you to receive a "nice" call from your supervisor. Everything is about how many students you complete and not about the quality of education you provide. You will have about 200 students and no support. Think long and hard before working for FLVS. You are better off at a traditional school (I've been teaching for 13 years).
