Pros

Fluxx has provided me with plenty of professional growth opportunities both by virtue of the passionate people fostering the company's mission and by its accelerated growth. It is an incredible solution to many long-standing problems faced by the foundations who are driving change in the world through the most meaningful philanthropic missions. On top of being proud of the product and its growth, the people are what adds to the fun of working at the company. Everyone has a great sense of humor - it just might be the most important thing to show for when being interviewed. One of the main strengths of Fluxx as a whole is including any and all folks who contribute to the company. The inclusive nature is an absolute must in a start-up environment, and Fluxx does it well. The flexible/unlimited PTO plan, ever-evolving benefits, attentiveness of HR, and opportunities to bond with teammates as put together by Operations contribute to the focus on the employee and that employee's individual and team growth. These types of initiatives are rarely executed as compassionately at any other company with a similar (start-up SaaS) background. While there is a growing structure around management and executive tiers, there is a focus on transparency and the ability to brainstorm across a relatively flat terrain - meaning, you can bring ideas to your Director or VP and won't be shooed away. There are so many opportunities to connect with everyone, regardless of their respective roles within the company.

Cons

Like many start ups, growing pains can be...painful. The ever-changing landscape of team organization and resulting maintenance can make it difficult to roll with the punches. It is a double-edged sword: you help shape the future of the team and the company, but you also will need to fill in where you're needed, occasionally creating a diversion on your professional path. Occasionally, there are long hours. Nothing too out of the ordinary, and certainly dwindling as we become more organized. It is also up to management and employees to uphold a healthy work-life balance, so it's a two-way street there. That being said, there are constant and ongoing rollouts of initiatives to become better in the areas where Fluxx can stand to improve, which is an excellent sign for its and its employees' futures.

Pros

Competitive Salary and benefits Remote work Philanthropy focused

Cons

Code base is unmaintainable with many many different versions deployed to different client environments Engineers are asked to manage deployments and on calls, most of the work is putting out client-specific fires Leadership cut many engineers and staff last year without any performance review or opportunity to improve after going away on a "Leadership Retreat" Clear favorites within the company Management will yell at you in retrospectives if you call out any issues even if you present potential solutions

Pros

The community that surrounds Fluxx is unlike any other. The clients are globally investing in helping those in need and we're lucky to be a part of that. A great company is built on an innovative product, incredible people, and strong process. Fluxx has the first two in spades, and it seems like management is working very hard to improve on how it operates and scales.

Cons

Management communications need to be more open and transparent to all levels. Tones in leadership can be unstable, and while we see progress being made, more needs to be done. Earlier personnel shifts caused some rocky bumps (common to most startup environments), but the essence of Fluxx is still firmly in place to make this work.
