Pros

I came in knowing nothing about the business but I got great training from some top senior guys, and three years and a few promotions and raises later, I'm moving to be closer to the head office, because I'm confident in my long-term success there. A few Pros: - The company has been around for 50+ years. It is growing, thriving, and stable. - The office atmosphere is easygoing and relaxed, dress is informal, and mostly everyone is cooperative and friendly. - The boss is usually there at the New York office and willing to have a quick chat with anyone who knocks on his door about whatever's on their mind, either hearing out good ideas or resolving problems. - Even if you're full time, your schedule can be flexible if you need it to be, like some people who leave early to care for their families, or have other special considerations. Management takes work/life balance very seriously and doesn't unilaterally shift schedules around or arbitrarily change expectations. - Their generous "employee purchase program" gives all employees steep discounts on all of Focus Camera's merchandise, including cameras, computers, TVs, and other expensive electronics.

Cons

There aren't a lot of good lunch options nearby, so brown-bagging it or ordering delivery is the norm.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us! Great advice! We have dinners out, ice cream trucks, holiday parties, and events - including a rooftop event - throughout the year. However, we are always looking to do more so please feel free to share your suggestions with ER. Thank you!

Pros

I enjoyed the work as I was kept busy. The ONLY pro besides getting out early on Fridays.

Cons

Mainly all of the people working in the department that I was in DID NOT do their share of the work. If they did, they did it at a bare minimum and were quite rude and disgusting to the customers that they were "helping". You would think that would be acknowledged, but no. It must be okay to treat people this way. What a shame. If they're not doing their bare minimum work, they are playing around/shopping and those actually interested in doing the work end up doing those "workers" share of it. How juvenile and pathetic for a company that has been around for so many years. Nothing is done about this and will likely never change. The supervisor and upper management do nothing to better this issue. This is the right job for you if you have a crappy work ethic. The boss, is completely arrogant and condescending. He is rude to his workers and likes to embarrass them in front of other employees and even on the loud speaker. He will scream at you and treat you as if you are a child. If you are not RELIGIOUS Jewish, they do not care about you as a worker. You will be in and out of that revolving door of a job. I am leaving this review as the boss actually asked me to leave it after calling me a cockroach to my face, Could you imagine? They promise you things and they never follow through. The boss likes to put you down consistently and does not listen to his employees when you go to him with an issue. There should be some mandatory class for him to take to learn how to treat people and go about himself in a work environment. He thinks and treats his employees as if they are way below him. His class level is quite poor and his comments are ignorant and bully-like tactics. The benefits are awful. They change yearly and get worse as they change. They also get more expensive each time. So if you are making good money, you won't by the time your check is deposited in your account with the deduction for it. Why not look out for the best interest of your employees? Shame on you! A lot of the positive reviews are 100% fake. They, as other companies do, leave reviews for themselves everywhere. On their direct website, Amazon, google, facebook, etc. This company is very deceitful in its entirety. Watch out!!!

Thank you for your feedback. Focus Camera strives to provide a pleasant working environment to all its employees. We do not tolerate harassment or discrimination. We have an open door policy and encourage employees to reach out to Management or Employee Relations should an employee feel there can be improvement in any area. Focus Camera’s Employee Relations department has every employee in mind; in the event that an employee feels that something slipped through the cracks, we encourage you to remind us so that it can be dealt with right away. Insurance benefits are government regulated. Any increase in premiums due to such regulations affect the employer at least as much as the employee - as Focus Camera will increase its portion of the premiums for each and every employee working for our company. Focus Camera has never left its own reviews. We encourage employees and customers to leave their honest feedback, if they choose to do so, so that everyone can benefit.

Pros

Getting paid is the only perk of this job. Maybe meeting a few people Leaving early on Fridays.

Cons

Employees and customers are treated the same way, like crap. Negativity and complacency has spread through the entire company and there's a lack of communication between departments. You aren't given the power to make things work, you're constantly undermined at every turn.
