Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. We are continuing to evaluate our total compensation program(s) to ensure we are competitive within the industry. We also provide lots of opportunities for growth and development into supervisory roles as well as pay increases. I hope you will take the time to meet with your manager and discuss the next steps on your career journey with FSNS. Feel free to give me or a member of the HR Team a call as well to discuss further. Pros

1. FSNS invests in new equipment and uses the best consumables. You never have to work with broken or inadequate equipment, or improvise because you do not have what you need. You have the tools you need to perform the job. 2. The company pays for third party calibration for many critical pieces of equipment, which is fantastic. Not having to be the one to calibrate everything is amazing! 3. There is a culture of safety. Safety concerns are addressed and not ignored. 4. Sister labs are helpful and a huge resource if you have questions or need help. 5. The nature of this line of work can be very stressful with client demands and shifting priorities. However, you become really good at multitasking, being efficient, excersing patience, managing stress, prioritizing, and evaluating. Developing these skills serves you in all aspects of life! 6. Helping to ensure a safe food supply. Everyone eats! You can have a far reaching impact!

Cons

This isn't my first time working for a commercial lab. There are cons associated with being in this line of work. 1. The hours: Working in this industry the hours will never be normal business hours (9-5). Let me explain...The business is serving food manufactures. Food manufacturers produce their product typically during normal business hours. The samples will arrive after they are produced. Usually (not always) later in the afternoon/evening. Some products have a really short shelf life and need results prior to shipment. You need to put the situation in context and you will understand why work needs to be done outside normal business hours. 2. Work/Life Balance: This can be tricky. You definitely need to plan more.

As the situation allows, please assist others as they enter the business and want to better understand how it all works. Key point heard –Importance of leaders and managers being receptive to feedback and checking in often (I will share with key leaders). We appreciate all you do and are happy you are a part of the team! Thanks again! Bob Cox, SVP, HR.

Pros

There's a good amount of knowledge to learn about microbiological practices, good coworkers make the job tolerable, ability to be cross-trained in multiple departments.

Cons

low pay, management expected a certain turnaround time so 11 hour shifts were common and expected, favoritism is rampant so certain individuals will likely be chosen to move up over others, technicians were constantly pulled into other departments so the workload was even greater for those still in main lab, management gives early shifts out like hotcakes making it so the rush of samples that come into the lab later on in the day shift is mostly taken on by the later shifts of which there is not a lot, new procedures will be implemented and no one is specifically told the changes for weeks (i.e. changing the incubator for certain tests, changing the agar used for specific tests, etc).

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. It is unfortunate to hear your concerns and the fact that you left FSNS. I have forwarded your post to the LM and RLM. We appreciate the opportunity to improve and create a culture where everyone is appreciated. I hope you took the time to respond to your exit interview as well. We take concerns seriously and investigate each one. Our employees and our customers are at the center of all we do. I wish you the very best in your future endeavors. Bob Cox, SVP HR.
