Do not work here

Pros

They’ll pay you just enough to get by

Cons

The culture is extremely toxic and authoritative. Too much travel. Even on Sundays. A lot of forced OT but when you ask for it, it’s unavailable. They make you use your PTO if you there isn’t any work in your division or to handle personal matters, and will automatically deduct it. Upper management tend to have massive egos that require a lot of stroking if you want to advance.

We regret that your experience did not meet expectations. Please contact our HR Manager to discuss your feedback further. Our technicians are integral to our company, and we empathize with your frustration if your experience varied in different areas.

Pros

Steady income, no one wants to work here so its hard to get fired.

Cons

Worst job I have ever had. They will manipulate you into working weekend for no extra pay if you're salaried. Expect you to drive 2 hours to a jobsite and not include travel time as working time. The men at this company are not safe to be around an if you mention feeling uncomfortable to management they will gaslight you into thinking you're the problem. Liars get promoted, honest work is overlooked and everyone is micromanaged. I was constantly asked to do things I was never trained on and expected to make customers think they weren't getting ripped off but the definitely were. I would be assigned to construction sites with no restroom and either walk a mile to a subway to pee or hold it for 8 hours and eventually ruined my bladder. I haven't worked here in a year and to this day I still get phone calls asking to help with my previous projects. Management will say that everyone works a year in the field for "experience" but it is really just because they cant keep field employees or installation technicians long enough to handle their workload. Office culture is boring, quiet and depressing and anyone with a personality is accused of not working hard enough. DC is a great guy but one great guy cant fix a spoiled office, Engineers are not encouraged or are even discouraged from pursing additional education or a PE license and when I asked the CEO why he has a PE and no one else does he gave a snarky answer about how hes the only one who needs it. Don't get me wrong I loved most of my field coworkers but overall everyone just talks about when and how they will quit. Id consider anyone who worked there trauma bonded with the other employees, If you care about your mental health or wellbeing do not work here. The Denver office is probably the best company wide but the issues here run deep within the entire corporation and all of the offices still need lots of work to make this a tolerable work environment.

Horrible Company

Pros

There are a few nice people around… very few. Other than that there’s no other pros to working here.

Cons

- Salary is very low for the amount of work, overtime, and travel/commuting requirements, especially for employees holding an engineering degree. - Bad work-life balance due to travel and commuting to job sites. Sometimes you won’t know where your next job site is until the day before. - Install/construction training phase for engineers feels like a hazing process and provides little to no value for the office work that follows. - Company culture reeks of corporate greed. - Micromanagement of working hours despite being on salary. - Shady pay practices for salaried employees, and other restrictions that cannot be shared due to NDA/confidentiality. - Lack of growth opportunities within the company and within the industry. - Really subpar benefits - 401k, insurance, and PTO are far below other companies’ standards.

We make every effort to be fully transparent with travel and training expectations. I am sorry Ford AV was not a good fit for you. We understand that finding the perfect work fit is important. While our company culture may not be a match for everyone, we're fortunate to have a loyal team – one-third of our employees have been with us for over a decade!
