Pros

Very few pros. They pay on time and their stated mission is positive

Cons

Long hours, unreasonable expectations, too much middle management, micromanagement from the executive level. Sometimes when you “move fast and break things”, you end up with a lot of broken things, really quickly.

Getting through the growing pains

Pros

It feels good to spend my time working on something that should make a really positive impact on the world and this continues to be motivating year over year. Teammates are great. There's also a ton of demand for our product, so getting our first product out the door makes me optimistic and excited about the company's success. I'm surprised seeing so many negative comments here about leadership because that has not been my experience (as a mid level employee) at all. I find exec (C level) leadership to be experienced and transparent, very good about explaining the "why" behind project pivots. I've also found leadership at all levels to be very approachable, including when employees are expressing concerns. Our exec team's leadership style is one of the main reasons I've stayed at the company for so long.

Cons

Salaries are not as competitive as they need to be to keep great people here.

Pros

Tackling long-duration energy storage for decarbonization, employees feel they’re doing meaningful work. High talent density, especially in engineering and science. Good for people who like ambiguity and building from scratch. Well-funded with high-profile investors. Tech is novel, which gives a sense of working on something unique.

Cons

Expectations are high; urgency culture can burn people out. Salary is often below big-tech, equity upside uncertain.
