Pros

Good place to work for benefits and retirement. Great educational opportunities.

Cons

Management issues were a definite problem. Old hats just stay in their spots leaving little opportunity for advancement.

Pros

Great benefits: Paid vacation, sick time, comp time. Pension plan mostly compensates for low pay for professional work. Training and professional certification encouraged.

Cons

Low pay for professional level work. All policies very dependent on department. Each appointed department head controls their department completely. High turn over, lots of the old timers are entering retirement age, and younger folks often do not want to stay at one job for 20-30 years.

Pros

Stable company that has consistent normal working hours. Rare to have to work long hours or weekends. Great place to become established and learn. Typically receive an annual cost of living increase.

Cons

Political environment. The current employees have been here for 20 plus years and aren't open to new ideas and change. Not very much opportunity to move up as those in management position are tenured.
